During the previous generation and the generation before that, employees shows total commitments to their employers mainly due to the fact that jobs were hard to come by and if they were offered a job, they protect their jobs as though it is their life as it is their source of livelihood. They will be so grateful to their employers for giving them a chance to make a living and when their bosses have problems they bear the problems together.
Things have changed. These days employees are not so dedicated. They have become rather selfish and only thinks of their own survival. As soon as a better offer comes along, they will jump at the chance to leave, never reminding themselves of all the good things that the company or his boss has given him in the past. They leave without a tinge of regret. Some even goes as far as bad mouthing their previous employers.
I think the only country in the world that has managed to instill loyalty in their employees are the Japanese. Maybe it is their way of upbringing or their samurai culture that was thought to them from small. They were trained to be loyal to their masters. The employers in turn took real good care of their employees. They give them life time employment and if there is a vacancy in the company, the children of their staffs gets the first priority.
Of course many companies have taken the example of the Japanese and try t instill the same sense of responsibility and discipline in their employees. They provide the best working environment and benefits to their employees making them difficult to match with other companies. Thus their employees tends to think twice before leaving when a better opportunity arises.
It works, but this is a loyalty bought. It is totally different scenario from the olden days when employees show pure loyalty, but sad as it is, it is the fact. Employee Loyalty does not exist anymore.
