There are many things and appliances in our house that is simply not worth repairing once it becomes faulty. Things like the kettle, the rice cooker, the vacuum cleaner, so on and so forth are so cheap these days that it is not worthwhile to repair these things anymore. Most of the time people send these items for repair because they have grown attached to it after using it for so long.
Being a appliance repairmen use to be a very lucrative trade many years ago. Most of them who send their appliances for repairs never know what was wrong with the items they want repaired. Most of the time the fault is just a very minor one like a faulty fuse or a loose connection, but once it reaches the hands of these repairman, the fualt will be blown out of propostion and he will say he needs a few days when he can just do it within 5 minutes. Like it or not, because they don’t know what is happening they will trust the guy as long as the item could be repaired. So when after 2 days they go and pick it up, the repairman will show them some parts that he claimed have been replaced and demanded a bomb from the owners, who has no choice but to pay up happily because now they are able to use the appliances again.
So it is not always advisable to have these appliances repaired. It is penny wise and pound foolish to pay for the repairs when the cost of repairing is more than the cost of buying a new one.
