How do we measure success? Does being successful means we made millions? Everyone measures success with wealth. If you are wealthy everyone will say you have already made it in life. Maybe I am saying this because I haven’t and I don’t think I will ever make my million, but I do see a lot of people who have made many a million but in my books. I still consider them a failure.
There are so many ways of being successful. If you succeeded in climbing Mount Everest, you are successful. If you swim across the Suez Canal, you too are successful. So must we always measure success with wealth? Not necessary, but it’s almost compulsory, for even though money is not everything, we cannot have anything without money. Sad but true, so we might just have to accept the fact that money does makes the world go round.
There are people who struggles to make enough to feed their families and there are people whose wealth can feed a whole country. People who strives for wealth everyday are the people who makes this world go round. Of course the Almighty is fair and don’t make everyone equal. So some have to struggle and some have them struggling for them. Imagine one day, when the whole world is populated with wealthy people, who would want to come and repair your faulty faucets then?
The one and only thing that most successful people process is the greed for more. It does not necessary means greed for more money. Some already have all the money they need to last them 5 generations, yet they still slog on to make more. They hunger for more due to the fact they get a great sense of satisfaction of seeing their business idea succeed. That is what great men are made of. The lust for success.
Lots of people don’t process that kind of lust. They are happy with what they make. As long as they have enough to keep going, they are happy. They hate heavy commitments. They don’t like stress. They live their lives with simplicity. We too need these people around to even things out so that we have an elegant and vibrant society where some are bosses and some are wage earners. The world cannot function without one or the other.
