Giving Up and Picking Up the Pieces Again

To know when to give up is also another important aspect of surviving in this dog eat dog world. In everything we do, people advise us to preservere. Perseverance is the key to all successes, so they say. No doubt, this advise holds a grain of truth but when the inevitable happens and we know for sure that it’s time to move along, we should be brave enough to take that ultimate step.

Sometimes things just never works according to plan. You have exhausted all your resources. You are in debt and you don’t see the light at he end of the tunnel. What you should do now is to get out. Like an army retreating to preserve life and food supplies, we too should retreat and recompose ourselves. A retreating army is by no means an army that has lost a battle. A wise general will retreat when faced with impending loss so he can preserve his troops for greater battles. Likewise, when we know we can no longer carry on, we should give up but stay alert to fight another day.

We should look at the failure as a lesson learned. We might have lost everything but we have managed to keep 2 things intact. Our lives and our sanity. Some goes crazy over their failures, some takes their own lives. That is stupid, for they will never get that second chance. Staying sane, we have a chance to pick up the pieces again. No doubt we will have to start all over, but we start much more wiser than before.

Sometimes we have to accept fate too. Many people just refuse to believe that they are not cut out to be something that they want to be. After a lesson learned, we should take a real good look at ourselves and ask ourselves whether we are really suited for that job or for that business. If we can come to terms that we are not what we imagine ourselves to be, accepting defeat is much more easier.
