In whatever we do, or whatever we plan, there is always a chance that we will miss out something. The ability to sniff out small minor details is crucial in whatever that we have plans for. Even a simple task of organising your company party can turn disastrous if one small glitch occurs because you overlook something or maybe because you took a risk, thinking that these small things be so co-incidental to happen on that day.
Never Take Chances
The most important thing is never to take chances and gamble with your luck. Using the Company picnic as an example, don’t gamble your luck with mother nature. Even if you have checked with the weather forecast station that there will not be rain on that day, never take their words for it. Be ready with he tents and canopies. So what if it doesn’t rain. The tents and canopies won’t hurt anybody, but if it does, you will be grateful.
List down everything
Making a list makes planning easier. You will have a rough idea of what will be happening from start till end. A step by step list, divided again into sub list for each step will give you a better idea. Again using the Company Picnic, the first on the item, will be the venue or the date. That will be your first concern. The sub list for this first item will be check out the venue, the availability, the suitability, the terrain, transport, presence or fresh water and toilet facilities. You get the general idea.
Brainstorm
No man is an island. No one can do anything and everything themselves. The first thing in organising anything, is to st up an organising committee. Select a guy which everyone respects the most and vote him or her as chairman. Delegate different task to each of the committee members. Have frequent meetings and get feedback on the progress of the task delegated to them. When problem arises, brainstorm to find the most suitable solution.
Hope for the Best, Expect the worse
After making sure for the hundredth time that everything is in order, you hope and pray everything goes according to plan. While hoping for the best, you must also expect the worse so in case anything does indeed goes wrong, you are ready to deal with it.
