When the love is gone, divorce is an option.

Marriages are suppose to last till death do you part. That was the vow taken wasn’t it? How is it then, are there so many that break that vow? That is something that I have no reply. I can teach people how to fix a leaking pipe, I can also teach people on how to basically run a small business, but when it come to solving marital problems, I have to admit, I don’t have the faintest idea.

However, I do know that when the love is gone and the fire has died down, many problems will start cropping up in a marriage, no matter how perfect it was in the initial stage. So if you ask me,  given my training as a technical man as well as a businessman, I think I will face this problem in the most logical and practical way. That is to tackle the bull by the horn and get it over with once and for all so we can carry on with our lives. If the marriage has broken down so badly that it is beyond salvage, the best solution for both parties, I think, would be to get a divorce.

Let’s be reminded that getting a divorce is a very lengthy and stressful process, made worse if you have children that needs to be supported. The reason why we see many modern couples making out marriage agreements before tying the knot is to avoid this hassle. It might make the marriage seems shaky from the start, but it is a very realistic way of approaching things. No one can guarantee what will happen a few years down the road. So if you did not make out a marriage agreement prior to your marriage, the first heartache will be to get a divorce lawyer whom you can trust.

Even choosing a lawyer can be a big problem if you don’t have any good recommendations. Divorce laws differs state to state so you must make sure the lawyer is familiar with the divorce law of the state where your case will be heard. Then starts the lengthy and emotionally draining divorce process. There will be the question of alimony that your divorce lawyers will try to work out the best for you. Then there the debts and assets, the retirement accounts and a whole lot of other processes that will really drain you both physically and mentally.

I would like to ask, why put yourself through this hell? Is there really no other better option?
