You Have to be Greedy To Succeed

Every businessmen has it. Greed. else they would not be involving themselves on making money and even more money. If you don’t have that urge and greed to want to make lots of money, you will never be a successful businessman. If you are the kind that is easily satisfied, you too, won’t make it as a businessman, or if you are already in business, you will never expand beyond what you have now.

Greed makes you successful but over greediness may cause you your downfall. Take the stock market speculators for instance. Nearly all of them made millions during the boom years. If they were not overly greedy, they would be living comfortably today. However many were blinded by greed. They can’t stop. When they have won, they want to win somemore. When they have lost, they want to win back their losses. In the end, they lost everything that they have initially won.

There are professional gamblers who makes a living from the casinos. You might think it is impossible, but they make a good living by gambling 3 days a week. The reason they are able to do that is because they have disciplined themselves to control their greedy emotion. They know when to stop. They limit their gambling budget. If their budget is 300 bucks per day, that’s all they are going to bet on. If they loose 300 they leave. If they win 300, they will also leave and if you have observed what goes on inside a casino, you will find that most people starts off with wins before loosing big time. It is the ability to stop smack in the middle of their winning streak that they survive day after day and make a living out of gambling. Not many have that ability.

Some very successful people will tell you that they are not driven by greed to venture into bigger and bigger things. They are merely doing it for the satisfaction of seeing something take shape and getting that feeling of accomplishment. Well of course they are. Now. Ask them what made them took their first step to venture into their first business and what made them built up what they have today. I don’t think anyone will want to admit it, but it was greed.
